Barbara Emmons. I am married with 3 children. Andy who crossed over in Dec 2005. Michael soon to be 21 and getting married in the spring. Kayla who is 16, a senior in high school and plans of becoming a doctor someday. My husband Doug, whom is in purchasing and a wonderful man whom supports me running for the Western Cherokee Board/Council.

 
Background includes but is not limited too the following:

I have worked as an Administrative Assistant with my duties being Procured all materials including office supplies, equipment, software, computers, raw materials and other items requested. Negotiated prices and delivery schedules for expedited orders. Monitored all incoming orders to insure completeness and accuracy of orders. Worked directly with production to schedule Jobs and to insure all orders were shipped promptly. Performed all accounts payable functions including scheduling bills for payment to maximize cash flow.
 
Communicated with all customers about any outstanding debt thru letters and/or phone calls. Setup Quick books and prepared payroll.
 
Software conversion from QuickBooks to Peachtree including:
Payroll, Inventory, General ledger, Accounts receivable, Accounts payable
 
Developed reports using Peachtree software to more effectively monitor supplies, incoming and out going orders and to streamline the business processes. Designed and prepared weekly reports to show total sales and inventory levels.
 
Designed invoices in Microsoft Word that was link Excel spreadsheets.
Designed company business cards, letterheads and sales brochures.
Prepared monthly statements for customers.
 
Worked under a federal grant doing:

Overseen 30 Arkansas Counties Providing direct & indirect services to about 3500 people annually. Setup and organized training for parents and professionals on Disability Laws, Effective Communication, IEP Conferences.
 
Wrote training materials- Training for Effective Communication between Parents & Professionals. Organized and scheduled trainings through out the state. Collaborated with State Agencies to make sure clients were receiving all possible help available to them. Was under contract to do mediation across the state to assist with keeping lawsuits to a minimum. Prepared reports quarterly for the Federal Gov. on the trainings done, number of clients helped, number of meetings attended, number of clients requesting help, number of referrals made to other agencies and list of agencies.
 
Coordinated trainings for doctors, lawyers, school administrators and parents to attend training classes. Provided training according to regulatory requirements. Maintained database of clients up to date. Setup, organized, researched, scheduled speakers for MD Support Group and MUMS Support Group. Designed Flyers, business cards, letterheads and handouts. Wrote Articles for the Arkansas PTI Newsletter, MUMS Newsletter. Assisted at State level in Bill Writing on Federal Disability Laws. Designed PowerPoint presentations. Coordinated all trainings at least 6 months in advance. Training provided trained 20 to 2,000 people at a time.

Worked under a state grant doing:

Collaborate with state agencies to make sure clients were receiving all possible help available to them. Performed case management duties; met with clients, reported their needs to the state, after approval was received, gathered bids, wrote contracts to hire the work done for consumers. Prepared follow up reports every month on each client and turned it in to the state.
 
Assisted Fiscal Agent with regulatory quarterly reports and taxes.
Maintained database of clients up to date. Setup Quicken to do Payroll for 50+ employees. Performed accounts payable. Ordered Office Supplies. Designed flyers, business cards, letterheads and handouts

* Teaching Dignity & Self Worth, teaching parents and professionals how the disabled can still Dignity & Self Worth.
* Teaching Attitudes and Perceptions: Changing perceptions of the Professional about their Attitudes and Perceptions of the disabled.
